DCDAL is no longer accepting new students for the Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED programs. However, we are still accepting new and returning students for the James H. Groves High School Diploma Program.

Please note: If you do not qualify for the diploma program based on previously earned credits and/or eligibility testing, you will be referred to an in-person program at another location for ABE services.

How to Enroll

To enroll at DCDAL, you must register for an in-person orientation session at one of our locations across the state.

  • You may register for only one session. Duplicate registrations will be removed, and your seat may be forfeited.
  • After registering, you must complete and submit your orientation paperwork packet online within one (1) week of registration.
  • A non-refundable $15 registration fee is required at the time of registration.

After Registration

  • Based on your previous enrollments, test scores, or credits, you may qualify for a virtual orientation session and be exempt from eligibility testing.
  • If eligible, DCDAL will notify you via the email address provided during registration.
  • Be sure to check your email regularly for updates.

Transcript Submission

  • Submit a scanned PDF copy of your transcript to transcripts@dcdal.org by April 17, 2026.

About Organizer

In 1997, the Delaware Center for Distance Adult Learning, Inc. (DCDAL) was founded to create an opportunity for Delaware adults without a high school credential to earn a James H. Groves High School diploma online. Up until that point, James H. Groves High School was only offered at on-site programs housed in seven different locations throughout Delaware. In 2004, DCDAL expanded to offer online GED preparation. To date, more than 1,000 Delaware adults have earned a high school diploma or GED through DCDAL. Our mission is to provide a personalized program with quality instruction and support to enable adult learners to become more effective employees, family members, and community participants.
